    I can't imagine trying to get 4 inches of pre curved welding wire to go where I want it to go.

    It would have to be a pretty hefty wire for 3"-4" stick out for sure. I see that text uses the term 'Innershield'.. Innershield is actually a Lincoln trade name. I wonder if that is a Lincoln document. I liked to see the entire doc.

    Yes it is from Lincoln
    Some where I have on ship welding use 36" copper tube for longer stick out
    They have made 1,200 amp welders
    I do not know size of wire it used

    The only really long stickout documents I've seen were for large diameter wire.

    I have zero firsthand knowledge of it though, just a curiosity for me.

    This one shows stickout comparison for 5" vs. 1.25" on 5/32" electrode (submerged arc).
