What is a Momentary arc start?

What is a momentary arc start switch VS a sliding type amp controller or something like the tig button for a tig torch?

Its for triggering 2T/4T sequences. Or for blasting tack welds. Its just an on off contactor switch really

    OK thanks...

I believe my HTP221 has a setting for something like that... (spot)

I was just curious..... I'd like to try a tig hand control someday.... tig button looks cool...

but CK or HTP makes a sliding wheel thing too.... although it borders on cumbersome... so it seems ... by looking at it

Your HTTP for sure has a sequencer. The momentary switch activates the functions as follows:

"When you depress the trigger on the torch, your Invertig 221 provides pre-gas flow for as long as the trigger is depressed. When the trigger is released, it will slope up to the welding amperage that has been selected. When the trigger is depressed again, the welding current will slope down to the final current. As long as the trigger is depressed, your Invertig 221 will continue to weld at the final current which has been selected. When the trigger is released, the arc will extinguish, and the post flow will start. Welding parameters which can be adjusted using the encoder are slope down (2E), final current (2F), slope up (2C), starting current (2B), pre-gas (2A), and post gas (2G). Again, we do not recommend using the 4t mode with either the foot pedal or the torch mounted amperage control."

in UK for pipe welding we nearly always have a button on the torch for 2T/4T and rarely, if ever, use a pedal.
