Be patient and wait for Hougen cutters in
sizes you want to show up on eBay. Much cheaper than other sources I looked at.
What’s a good brand besides Hogan? Not really interested in Chinese stuff. Also, do you ever get yours sharpened, what do they usually charge for this?
Thanks

I've had trouble with a few Jancy (usa made), and a few British made cutters...…………..
Sad to say, but the stuff coming out of China is on par with a lot of our stuff. Ought to be...……..they stole our technology, and our companies help them produce a good product with machinery that's been either moved there, or built there (to our specs).
Spend the money and get Hougen. Just finished another batch of roll off box roller wheels, 4" diameter shaft, 41 pcs 1 9/16" holes 1" thru, 18 pcs 3" thru 1 9/16" dia. Hougen cutter is still sharp and ready for more.
Magtron is a good Brand also. / non chinese.
I think they are made in the Netherlands

Amazon Chinese junk does just fine on 304ss and in the event you wreck one it's here through prime in a day. Hard to beat.

If you're looking to go with a USA company try some CST cutters.

Rotabroach themselves make great cutters. I made a single 16mm cutter do 250+ holes in S275 steel, with coolant of course.
I have a few of the evolution bits which i assume are Chinese and never an issue with them. They’re drilled tons of holes and continue to do it well. Never chipped a tooth yet.
My largest bit is a 1.5” Milwaukee that I didn’t pay for and never would. It works equally well as the evolution ones no better or worse and it cost $125 i believe.

I run hougen and slugger. Mcmaster has been stocking slugger for a while, for some anyways. I haven't had too much difference in quality. They both break as easily when an employee drops them lol.
If I buy, I try to get hougen though. Always dependable.
