squares are another tool, that's all. you still have to account for warping etc. It doesn't magically make everything accurate, as I'm all too aware

I HATE people who bodge pipework together. We simply don't allow it any more in my work. When I was on the tools (a Millwright, to use american-speak) so disheartening trying to podger 6" pipework back together so you could get a couple bolts in... even 3" was bad enough. They used to get away with it 30-40 years ago because we don't have any super-critical or high speed pumps, but such bad practice.

Those are the 6" ones? It appears the inside gap in the corner is 2" X 2" on all the sizes, 4", 6" and 8"? Or the flanges are 2,4 & 6" even.

Yes these are the 6" squares, the inside including material is 2.25", don't know about the other sizes, but a quick phone call or email, and you'd know

I saw a guy once using an old cast Iron sewer grate for a plasma cutting table top. heavy duty stuff.

I initially built a few when I first started welding
only when I later got a digital angle protractor did I realise they were all slight off

had to build over and use better material for less chance of shrinkage

with problem after problem with the laser cutter, the fab company have only just produced my first batch... but they have given me a good price on materials, and a few freebies as well which is nice.

batch of 350 squares along with a "500" square, this is a 500mm tall square with a 60 degree hypotenuse, useful for 60 and 30 degree joints.




One of a pair of whopping great 600mm squares designed for our table at work, this is made from 8mm plate and has 28mm holes to work with the 28mm jig system. Pictured with a 350 square for reference!

While seeing my designs being made and getting batch orders in has been quite enjoyable, even with a budget plan etc I am NOT making any money on these, after postage, ebay fees etc. In fact, I'm barely breaking even.
After selling the next batch produced I'm not sure I'll bother with any more. It's too much hassle for not enough gain. And I wondered why no-one else sells these types of squares in the UK...

I’m digging that heavy duty gree welding table. Did you paint it green because it cost you a lot of green?

They are of course very nice.
The Chinese will think nothing of copying you designs and selling them on the internet.
I saw it happen before on something else that was a one off I know someone built. The even put a hole in that did nothing, just happened to be in the steel that was used!

I have a story about a Chinese knock off, and a random hole from SEMA.

When I was building Jeeps in Atlanta, there was a story about busting Chinese companies at SEMA. One of the bumper manufacturers shared a story of how they busted a company of knocking off their product. When the manufacturer confronted the Chinese company at SEMA, he pointed to a specific hole and asked "What is that hole for?" They gave some bs story about bolting up a winch. The original manufacturer said, "Nope, it's for bolting up this part to a fixture in our shop before it is all welded up."
