A Warfighters Prerunner

A friend of mine who is currently in the Army bought this 1992 Toyota 2WD Perunner. Well he put it to the test and the test got the best of it. So what I (High Dezert Fabrication) has to do is fab up a need "sub-frame". Fix the LCA mounts or fab up new ones. Fix his shock mounts or cut them off and fab new ones. Will probably fab up new shock towers and a Prerunner bumper in the future...

I'm sure you've seen the alignment bay at a body shop . Frame straightening, and steering geometry, are things best left to someone with the proper setup. It's never gonna be right. But if it's an offroad beater...…...why not (shrug).

That being said....I dunno if you have access to the equipment. I'm just spit ballin'.

Based on seeing a modern state of the art alighnment shop,it would appear this type work require's a huge investment in equipment. One of the most respected front suspension mechanics I've ever known was a postal carrier that did it part time at his home. His tools were pretty straight forward and basic. Local GMC dealer occasionally subbed work to him. But I think farmer is right,this job is mostly about components that can take a beating.

Farmer, Well not sure if it is tweaked...Not worries about alignment..But once we get it back together, then we will see. What he wants me to do down the road is put I-Beams (ford) on it..Well, we will see..

Update - Took off what was left of the existing sub-frame and fabbed up a new one.. It is coming back together one weld at a time...

Nice work but personally I would have given the thing a trip to the junk yard. I hope he takes a little better care of it after you doing all this work. Somehow I have doubts about that. Probably because of what he did to it originally.

Why scrap it? Its good foundation to work with.

Look at what guys are doing nowadays with pre-runner builds. Easy $100K investments. Hell, a decent front set up will run you about $7k with shocks and that's budget minded bolt on kits. $10K from the likes of Kibbe, Mazzulla, Camburg and theres a few more out there.

Ya I just salvaged what I could. I was on a time crunch and i just took that front mount piece and fabbed to it. You are right about the cost. especially for big money kits..I said FVCK THAT!!!! That is why I learned to fab!!!! As a matter of fact, I am in the midst of building (upgrading) a 6' over kit for my ride. I will start a thread on it. When I first did my intro, someone told he admin that we need an off road section. We do.

When I was young, I buried my PowerWagon exactly twice. (I had the FWD bug too back then).

After my buds buried their rigs trying to get me out, and we had to cobble together about $300 to get a wrecker to come up there to get us ALL out...……………….it was the last time for me I'm a quick learner
