    Lets'see your hoods

    Hey Ya'll,
I feel that our hoods are a little piece of our personality. Here is my latest. I am High Dezert Fabrication. I firm supporter in the 2nd Amendment, Oh and Pittsburgh Steeler fan (for over 45 years). Let's see em...Don't be shy

RuhRoh . I'm in bad shape prolly. Mine is a dirty grungy black and dull gray, beat to crap, scratched up. I'll have to think on that for awhile ..

Of course, don't ask my lil woman about that. She'll tell ya the hood does match my personality.

    Re: Lets'see your hoods

i have my first one, a fixed glass rounded thick nasty old thing you had to flip up the entire helmet and use safety glasses under it, then i got the flip up shield type again all dirty/rough, a little lighter weight, then i got a miller digital elite, i like the auto sensing now with my bad eyes and having to wear glasses under the helmet not to mention i cant see teh weld through the dark lense any more to see where the stinger/rod is relative to where i need to start running my bead, i used to be able to see it through the dark lense but not anymore and its just gotten harder over the years to hold a piece of metal with one hand and flip the lens down on the helmet and try to keep the rod in the proper place etc.....its hell to get old and im not really old yet so i can hardly wait till it gets worse

Honeywell pipeliner(flip down) with an auto dark Arc One #9 lens and a Jackson 370 head gear. No pic needed.

Never had anything on a helmet that wasn't put there by the manufacturer. I've thought about doing an airbrush thing like Ironman because it seems to fit right.
Also though Rocketman and Boba Fett would be cool too.

I just bought one of these a few weeks ago. Very light weight! All the years of wearing hard hat hoods, my neck really bothers me!

    I gotta say.

If everything I've done in my life...…..good, or bad...……..allows me some comfort

It's the fact, that ol' gal chooses to come home every night, and hang her hat on the headboard, that makes me feel like I've done something right.

I'm still a work in progress...…….but I'm gainin' on it.

    Re: Lets'see your hoods

A few pics of several of my helmets...

The Red White and Blue is vintage 1985 or so.. I bought after getting my certifications.. I think my original helmet from welding school (Jackson with 2.5 inch lens is at my brothers house).. By the way, the red Lincoln helmet is really nice! It's the 3350 series and the clarity is superb!

    Have a great night!

When I got my first welder. Back in the UK It was just a dark hand held shield. That was before auto dark hoods
I Used hand held shields for many years, I think it was good training As even to day with an auto dark helmet I do all my welding holding the rod holder with one hand

Bonzoo, that's a nice 'hood. I'm thinking of my plans to leave NY and go south. Build a boat the next few years then launch it and sail away. I'll swing by and say hello! What Island are you on again?
