    no slag

I either Tig, Mig, or Fluxcore, haven't stick welded in at least 30+yrs. Anyway, been messing with some 6011, noticed no real slag on the welds. Even opened up a fresh, sealed box cause the first few I tried were old, and laying on the bench in the open. Normal for 6011? Any thoughts? Thanks!
Yeah, same question on other forums.

Yeah, pretty normal. 6011 has a light slag coating that never completely covers the weld bead.

6011 has a cellulose based coating so most of it goes up in smoke.

I think carbon dioxide from the burning cellulose does most of the "shielding." I've read that 6010/11 are like "spray arc" in mig, regarding in the way the weld metal is deposited.
