    Cut some bigass angle-tubing and changed the angles of attack to fumble, I mean, model together something that pherhaps could be passed as a scientist robe.

    Going proper scale and original model of shoes did just simply not look good, so I continued with my freedom of interpretations and tried to do something that would work and be pleasing to the eye.

    I put some electronics in.
    Notice this is a free interpretation of Rick Sancez.
    I changed his dimension/portal gun to something more retro, wanted it to have more of a menacing appearance like a triple barrel sawed off shotgun as I feel the original model is a reference to those. (Road Warrior/Mad Max'ian feel to me)
    And I definitely wanted the d/p gun to give off an unspecified art deco/60ish vibe.



    Banged and fumbled this together during winter by borrowing an extension cord on any mates driveway.
    Pulled out from the trunk an foldable bench from "biltema" and a desk chair/pc chair as I have to sit'n work due to my back.
    It was cold as fxxk and I kept getting numb and dropped the engle grinder that ran off until his leash/extension cord ran out and unplugged. (Very scared my lazy dog fleabag would get in the line of fire there *phew*)
    Theres so much I would have liked to have put more work on, but this humble piece took most of the winter to fumble together as modest as you see him, Rick, here.

    This is just in case you want some more background of this project.
    I started on a dimensional portal that was supposed to rotate and pretty much work like those infinity mirrors back in the 60ies, my idea was to fill it with streaks of illumanted green and deep red "glass" like jewels.
    Had done some miniature experiments on that and noticed done right you could make an infinity tunnel with glowing spirals of jewels stretching forever, also with a shaped backmirror (polished SS) the tunnel f/x would twist around and side to side.
    If you look close the base has another square mount-hole that is intended for that very portal-infinity mirror contraption.
    Also started on Morty's noggin, however my arthritis was so frikkin bad I couldnt hold a loaf of bread without dropping it when I fumbled together Rick so I put those things away for then.
    My hands are back now and I plan to get back to those projects when I have some dough and somewhere to fumble together crap.
    (I reckon I have something like 17-18 BIG sculpture projects going simultaneously that I fumble with when I find parts/find dough to fumble on
    But I dunno if I can survive fumbling with this stuff outside another winter, on the other side I dunno how I can survive if I can't create. (Would be easier to be without food and that comes from an fatass as yours truly)

    Anyway, hope you enjoy this mates!

    Best one yet! Love rick and morty, your 3d rick is spot on even if "untrue" to the cartoon. Your stuff is great, very inventive and fun. The scale and dimensions look perfect and you captured the "in motion" feeling REALLY well. Keep the pics coming and great work.

    Thanks SlowBlues, from a fellow R&M fan it means a L O T!
    Also appreciate your feedback on the "in motion" feeling as you put it, it is really nice to hear.

    I can reveal that I try to put a lot of thought in how to create that dynamic feeling.
    Amongst other stuff I can reveal that I scratch (= sketch is to nice a word for my scribblings) together some sketches to try and fetch any "known" patterns of a character.
    Then I work on that to see if I can stretch it further and blend it together with my personal touch'n feel of my "art" if that is not to pretentiosly put?
    That feedback kinda deservs a sneak peek of some of my quick sketches when I revealed as much,
    oh and plz notice these are not finished sketches just out of a pile of halfassed scribblings to pherhaps catch some insights in the particular universe these dudes roam within.
    The context here is that this gives me a comfy feeling of a pillar to build my own particular interpretations on.

    Around here I concluded that many know Rick and Morty from the intro where they run from those mindboggling monsters (Of whom I dream of fumbling together one in particular, if you saw that living room shot of the many eyes, jaws like, colorful monster?)
    Anyway a running Rick gave me hope that is a pose viewers would recognize and embraze, at the same time it would hopefully catch that dynamic presence that I believe is so much to a static sculpture.

    Anyway, I will not ramble to much aboot this, but hopefully it illuminates some of my humble thought process leading up to grabbing that angle grinder

    Great to see how you conceptualize your pieces, it's always interesting to see someone's "process". Your sketches are really good too, it always amazed me how a good artist can capture things with minimal lines shading etc, the airplane and dog are perfect examples of that. Did you find it a natural transition to 3d art or did/do you struggle one way or the other?

    Best line from rick and morty: "..let me fix you some coffee" "oh no, if I wanted to be sober I wouldn't have gotten drunk"

    Oh mate, you think way to much of me, I probably got real lucky on those.
    Smudging or what we should call it came really early to me, I mean really early (not that I'm any good at it) I actually remember noticing comic books and the struggles I had to try and draw comics as I thought that was a clear priority over learning how to speak. 99 times out of a hundred my drawings are just aweful, like this here I think one of the latest, however in colorpens. (It is not finished yet, I ordinarily finish colorpens off with solvent and magically it turns in to "perfect" skin, but unfortunately I didnt take a finished pic before I gave this away. Anyways thats more honest before the rescue "tricks" flips on.

    I actually wanted to show how crappy things can get and I looked for a quickie I did on request, I got a box of oil pastel stumps (few colors) and a lobby card of an old Vampire movie and told - draw her! *dang hard*!
    But I don't see where it is, got metric piles of drawings, paintings and weird crap that pop up between my waxy ears. I'll see if I can find it and add it here if so (if edit works?)

    I think one helps the "other" in developing some humble improvements wether it is going from drawing to sculpting, or the opposite. I feel there are a lot of elements to each dimension of a sculpture or drawing, like dividing things as composition in under cathegories like emphasis, contrast, balance, movement, pattern, rhythm, unity and variety if that makes any sense (sorry for my poor english) For instance after sculpting a figure it gets easier to "see" an object each try and improving on catching motion and dynamics when you try to catch your ideas on paper.
    I fumbled a lot with wood, made a bed that literally is a kneaded viking ship with shield, dragonheads, runes and the whole shabang. Those projects also helped a lot.
    But I think I had very much help from the inventions whereas I had to try and get a "mental picture" of the mechanics and how stuff would work.
    Heres one of my crappy inventions as an example (And sorry for the insane wind drenching out the speech, I suggest fast forward a lot so you see the mechanism and skip my Swenglish blah's)

    For all that blah there is one thing that really surprise me a lot regarding the transitions between 2D and 3D art, it is far from sure what works in one of these works in the other!
    And it is weird that a sculpture that looks really catching to the eye could be virtually impossible to catch on a picture.
    This is something I actually try to play with whenever I can, there are some mirage between the mind and reality that I really enjoy exposing "art" lovers to. (If you can call my stuff art of course)
    Sorry for being long, but you raise some interesting questions

    Hmm I found a pic from when I was drawing it, don't think this was finished (like halfway) but I don't see an "Edit" button so I add it here as I promised if I found it (well half of it I guess and a promise is a promise!
