    cutting 15" diameter pipe

Any of you experts have any suggestions on how to set up a guide on 15" diameter pipe so I can cut off a couple of 12" sections. Tried fee handing and I am not worth a darn. I am using a Hypertherm PM 45. Some kind of strap for a guide?

If you have a good and to start with cut it from the inside with a length jig... but I'm guessing you already tried to cut so the end is probably a bit jagged

Normally I'd just mark it with a sharpie or chalk by using at least a 1 foot wide piece of cardboard or something else with a straight edge, flexible and long enough to wrap it... you gonna need a bit over 4 feet long but 4 would be close enough to get it straight, just tape the center of one end on the pipe and wrap it...

    cutting 15" diameter pipe

How long is the 15" pipe ? Is there one good end ? Set pipe upright in flat surface and cut a 2x4 to required length to use as a guide to rest plasma on.

Do you have a metal supplier or fab shop nearby with a 16x24 bandsaw or larger?

They could square your end and cut two nice sections in little time.

The guide for that size pipe will set you back some https://americawestdrillingsupply.com/TorchGuides.asp . A pipe wrap around and soapstone is how i would do it
Do not argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and beat you with experience.

Thanks for the tip. I only have a 4.5" angle grinder, but cut it off using 4 wheels.

if not comfortable with soap stone as a guide, then use an HF ring roller to roll a ring to fit the pipe. use a drag tip. you could form 11g x 2" fairly easily by hand.

my mini grinders are 4.5" also. it just seems hard to get any work done w/ 4.5" cutoffs wheels. if your not used to them, maybe best you use the .045 x 4.5 " w/ guard. the part # of the 6" wheel i gave are more flexy/squirrlier than most ,(take some getting used too) but they cut like a mother ****er.

Wish I had bought some of them in the day, trying to cut vertical casing near ground level was always a pita with a wrap on the larger sizes. And standing on your head didn't help.
