I'm wondering if I was sent a 5.4 gas mptor transmission. I believe the pumps are smaller versus the diesel ones. Not sure. This wasn't a rebuilt trans, just a supposedly low mileage trans. About 47k it was stated.

A lot of things are different between the gas/diesel versions... the biggest being the torque converter

Another major mistake that happens when doing tranny fixes/replacements on the E4OD's/4R100's( assuming that's what your talking about since you mentioned 5.4l) is the tranny coolers and lines do no get properly cleaned out from the previous failure that fills them with ground metal particles!!! even a good flushing will not remove all the particles!!! usually is best to completely remove the radiator and have a shop go through it.

Used to rebuild a lot of 5,6, and 700 series Allisons plus a few 5 and 6,000 series to boot. Almost all of them had cooler return filters, that seems to be the safest bet.

You would think ford would have done that too... cause when their autos go poof... they go all the way!!!(at least most of the ones I had experience with anyways)

Oh!! a 6.0L that changes things those torqshifts are a lot tougher than the E4Od's and a bit tougher than their replacements the 4R100's... but typical ford... when they 'fix' one problem they introduce a few more... just kidding well not entirely

Friend of mine had a six leaker... finally got rid of it as there was just too much oil getting into the coolant even with changing the recovery tank every couple thousand miles

It's just a in between truck for me. I've had many vehicles over the years and I'm only 29. Bought it becuase my F150 wasn't enough to pull our TT, so I needed something fast and cheaper.

Yep pretty much. I'm normally a die hard Ford guy. But when it comes to diesel I prefer a Cummins.
