    Airforce 27i

Bought this plasma new several years ago, it has never worked well. It will only sporadically strike a starter arc.

    -Checked ground lead
-all new torch consumables, assembled per the sticker on the unit.
-With out a drag cup it will arc but very weak, not even enough to burn through 0.02" shim stock
-Seems to be getting sufficient air #, Air is coming out of the tip.

    Any thoughts?
    Anything I should check?

This unit is 4 yrs old but has less than 1 hour of use, hasn't worked well since new.

make sure the ground clamp is on clean metal before cutting. Check and make sure the lead tot he clamp is not broken.
Then call hobart and talk to them, see if they can help you out with the parts to fix the plasma.
