Where can i order one of these plugs/cord from?

Figured I’d probably reach more people making a separate thread for this.

Looking to get a welder cord so i can use the same outlets for a 220 plug that uses a different receptacle on the drill press i ordered.

The plug in the photo is from my SW200 and i want a plug like that, with the nice looking round cord.

I know i can use one of the plug ends you put the wires into but they’re bulky and look crappy I’d like to keep a new tool looking like I didn’t hack parts off it.

I called Lincoln to order that plug and their part number brought me to a flat style cord and that isn’t what i want.

Worst case I’ll just use this one but I’d rather save it as its my spare for the 210 mig and sw200.

    Thanks!

eBay has some 8-3 cords for just over 50$ for 25'. 10-3 for about 40$ for 25'

All it is is a 50 amp welding plug . You can get them at home depot or Menards or Lowes or any electrical supply. Then just wire it to your drill press cord. You might need to buils up the cord with electrical tape to make the cord a snug fit in the clanp on the plug. Or if you want to make a pip tail sust get 2ft of 8-3 cord when you get the welder plug. Then put the corasponding 20 amp 220 v receptical on the other end.

There is not a common adaptor for what you want to do. Maybe if you knew the Nema style ends you require something might be available or could be made up.

The individual plugs are available to make up a cord but I think you could run into problems if you were using a 50 amp machine on a 30 amp circuit. A 30 amp machine on a 50 amp circuit wouldn't be a problem. That might be why there doesn't appear to be an adaptor available.

Its a sub 15 amp machine on a 40 amp circuit no issue there.

Probably have to go to an electrical supply to get the ends and a suitable cord.

You can order them from a place like stayonline.com but it gets expensive being custom made... normally I'd just shim the smaller wire up like rex mentions with either tape or wire sleeving.

Any decent hardware stores like homedepots will have the ends including the L6 twists too.

I have some of those on an extension cord I made up. I just think they look ****ty on a fairly expensive new tool. Obviously its a tool we're going for function but for my personal stuff I like to keep nice.

Thanks guys, I basically have to decide if I want to spend $10 or $50 lol.

The problem is that the ratings of the 2 ends are so far off from each other that it is not likely anyone wants the (perceived) liability to make them commercially. plus probably no real demand for it being that specialized. If you really want to, you could tap into your welding circuit and add on the proper outlet, but then it is likely that the new outlet would not be rated high enough for use on that circuit, though it would look "neater." I would just get over that hangup on how it looks and just make it work right and safely. Nobody is looking at your tool plugs and judging you

The place I mentioned will make them as will lots of others... they do NOT however come with any UL, EC, CSA, etc... ratings

    Thanks guys.

I just bought a twist lock i May just use my spare SW200 plus as an adapter. Or just use the regular 30/50 amp plug and get over the cosmetics of it.

It’s like a new car, first few years you baby it. Then a scratch is whatever.
