How to cut 50 - 60 Degree Angles Dry Cut Chop Saw

    Hi Guys,

Like the title says, I'm trying to figure out how to cut acute angles larger than 45 degrees on a metal chop saw that only adjusts up to 45 degrees. I've found myself several times needing to cut about 55 degree angles in square tubing and I just can't figure out how to do it. I've seen a few youtube videos for wood but the clamping system on a dry cut saw isn't similar enough to a wood miter saw to work in the same way. I keep thinking I've got to be missing something otherwise why only have adjust-ability on the clamping system to 45 degrees and not beyond?
I need to overthink how I'm going to overkill this project.

On my Makita I remove the adjusting bolt out the arc shaped hole, set the adjustable fence at the desired angle up to certain point of course due to the clamp bolt assy. Tighten the pivot bolt down good, clamp the piece against the fence with a vise grip C-clamp and make the cut.

Is hand cut with angle grinder the only way?

Not sure if this link will work, but there was some discussion on this in the past...

iirc i saw one of the other guys at work cut one end of a hunk of 2x2 tubing with a cutoff wheel to the angle required. after making sure the angle was accurate with protractor and 4" grinder he cut it down to a few inches put it in the chop saw and placed the piece he needed along side of that on the mitered edge. the piece he wanted to cut was at the same angle. like i said iirc.
