    CO2 Bar reading when empty

    I bough a refill for a CO2 100% bottle i had .

It started to give me issues with the welding porosity.

    It read 50 BAR (725 PSI ).

Than read the new bottle ( 80 bar or 1160 PSI).

i never thought about this untill i remembered that a 100% Argon bottle i can drain untill there is almost no presurre before i get atmospheric contamination ( maybe 5 or 6 BAR).

Can anybody tell me your straigh CO2 pressure empty state?

    Thanks

Zero psi. CO2 is a different animal, it will show 750 psi until the liquid is gone then suddenly crash. Weight is the only true method of knowing what's in the Cylinder.

I would think the one that had 1160 psi would be the contaminated one. I use co2, both for shielding gas and keep bottles on both trucks for air pressure for air tools, paint rigs etc, and I have never seen on with that much pressure before.

Generally 800 PSI is around the upper limit but it depends on the temp. somewhat and can be as low as 600 or so PSI.

more likely a leak on your welder gas feed line or something else hardware related. A small leak pulls in a significant amount of air sometimes
