Where to buy solvent resistant orings

This valve is out of my AC flush bottle blow gun, it sticks real bad, won't return at all and I figure the oring must be swelled. Where do I get some good orings that will hold up to solvents? Not sure what to look for, Viton?

nitrile o rings seem to hold up good..amazon has a nice supply of them

You'll find nitrile o rings used in many applications, including where oil resistance is needed or where low temperature functionality is required. ... This material has an excellent tolerance for high temperatures, resistance to oils, fuels and hydraulic fluids as well as aromatics and solvents.Oct 31, 2018

When to choose Buna or Viton Elastomer
    Posted on December 12, 2012

The choice of elastomers, rubber parts, in a pump can be very critical to the long-term success of the pump system. Pumptec provides 2 standard choices for their pumps, Buna or Viton.

Buna (NBR, Nitrile) is standard in most pumps and works well in most uses in cleaning and fluid pressurizing applications. This form of synthetic rubber is generally resistant to oil, fuel, and other chemicals (the more nitrile within the polymer, the higher the resistance to oils but the lower the flexibility of the material). Buna o-rings are black.

Viton is a brand of synthetic rubber and fluoropolymer elastomer commonly used in O-rings and other molded extruded goods. It is a trademark of DuPont. Pumptec uses Viton in pumps used in Pest and Lawn spraying because of its resistance to hydrocarbons found in some chemicals. Viton o-rings are brown.

I believe you would want Viton O-rings. Not sure where to get them though. If the walls are scratched badly I would not recommend Viton though. I used to use them in centrifuge pumps that ran hazardous material through them. They held up well.

Grainger has Viton O-rings. The prices seem fine.

Best choice for brake parts cleaner, based on the ingredients in CRC Brakekleen , would be Perfluoroelastomer compound FFKM. this is going to be expensive, as far as orings go and more difficult to find. 2nd choice would be Viton Extreme compound ETP also difficult to find. Third and most practical choice would be Viton FKM. There are multiple online sources for all of these.

Re: Where to buy solvent resistant orings

So I took the part to a local shop and told them what the application was and they fixed me up with the Buna orings, so far working good. Thanks for all the input, I got a crash course on orings. (The oring that was in there was just rubber)

William I don't know if he did not have Viton or if he thought Buna would be best but I wasn't about to grill him over a $1 sale and to boot the building is closed to the public due to Covid and I had to wait outside (110 degrees) while he took my part inside and fitted it up then brought it back out to me.

Buna N (nitrile) should be ok with brake cleaner, but you'll soon find out Viton (FKM) would be "better" but it all depends on whats in your cleaner solvents.
Neither is any good for Acetone unfortunately
