    yeah those work real good.

I have a snap on light I use on the bench occasionally.

    especially helpful with tig...

if you do any stick or flux core... keep the light at a safe distance.... don't ask..

I'm gonna have to look for a light like that, hopefully I don't wipe it off crawling through trailer frames.

That's the problem I had with anything on the 'helmet' half the time I'm under a rig there isn't enough room for even the hood thought about some of those sticky strips of bright leds... you know like the sell for headlight accents... of course then you'd have to put a battery holder somewhere on the hood too....

That’s a MAJOR prob with mine. Haven’t broken it off but it catches on **** and knocks it off my head.

I originally wanted it mounted “chin” height on the helmet but couldn’t get the angle to be effective. Gonna work on a recessed flush mount rig.

I once crawled in to the throat of a rock crusher with a #10 lens in a torch goggle... I was a reverse racoon for a week. That setup would have been perfect.

To add to the lock out/tag out question, I take that pretty seriously. I have a friend that has no legs from being wrapped up in an auger feeder in the early 80's when somebody pushed a remote start button. That company is no longer in business...

Sad. And so sorry to hear. Truth be told I get the shivers thinking about scenarios like that.

Like Terry, those kind of thoughts give me the shivers!!!! was about a year or so ago a mill down south of us had a guy get pulled through the debarker cause he jumped in to clear something and someone else started things up without knowing he was in it he survived but there was massive damage and lacerations!!! don't know if he is still alive today but that kind of experience certainly won't make you live longer.

It only takes a second either way. Even working on trucks I disconnect batteries before I work on belts and fans, etc. Saw a guy drop a 9/16" wrench on a starter once and almost catch the truck on fire.

    Re: chump articulating LED light

Great Idea, I have a light magnifier on my bench, and it mounts on the edge of the bench. When not in use it always gets in the way. Need to make one of those.

I've seen several wrenches accidentally turned into heating elements. Usually by loosening the hot lead on the battery first, nut breaks loose, wrench suddenly goes to ground and welds itself to frame. I guess thats why the manual usually says to remove the ground first.

Lock Out /Tag Out - Not just electric. Hydraulic, Pnuematic , also. Most grinders and chippers have pins to hold the flywheels, even coasting unsecured they can cause some serious injuries.

@ Lis2323 When I first saw the picture, I thought it was a hero cam.

How long do you get with a set of batteries, is it rechargeable?

The lamp has triple A’s if I recall which probably adds to the bulkiness.

Now that I know it works well in theory I will need to search for a lower profile unit I can hopefully recess into the helmet

This is how I mounted my magnifying light.

You forgot brushing the snow off the welder panel to adjust the amperage.

I have been using this one for a while. It has a magnet on the bottom of the light and a little steel plate glued inside the helmet so you can easily take it on and off or use the magnet to mount it on a piece of steel. I also have a optrel weld cap that I use in tight spots.
