I'm trying to make contact with duaneb55 for help with this. This Briggs engine doesn't have any #s stamped in the fan shroud that I can see, however it has gotten a dupont overhaul at some point. Tomorrow I'll pressure wash the inside to see if there's any evidence of the #s I can see from there. Anyway, w/o knowing the air gap between the new mag and flywheel magnet I made sure the mag is mounted properly and set the gap at .020", sanded the points and set them at .020", I checked the points with my ohmmeter to make certain they're making contact, removed the condenser which tests good, disconnected the kill wire from the mag. The points close when the magnet is centered under the mag. I can crank it over with the starter while holding the plug wire and my hand touching the head and just get enough shock to feel it. I haven't tried reinstalling the condenser yet, I'll try that tomorrow.
Any ideas of where to go from here?
TIA,
Mike
