when using c25 is the gas flow supposed to shut off immediately after you release the trigger or should it flow for a second or two before shutting off.

Most of the smaller machines have a couple second post flow now days. It's designed for those who weld stainless. Nothing hurt on the other processes except a few cents worth of gas out of every tank. Also if your burn back isn't turned up more than needed, Post flow can help keep the wire ball to a minimum.
