Usually when I get 502's it is on windows laptop running firefox... and most of the time I can switch modes in firefox to emulate a phone/tablet/kindle,etc... and get the page to show up... but not always... one trick to remember is if you get 502'd on a laptop go back then go to the bottom of the screen and change the style to MOBILE style... then you'll be able to see the page(probably) of course it will be in mobi format... one other thing you can do is go to a previous page....ie... page 1 if page 2 gave you the error... then REPLY a post up... this will NOT work if page 2 is already at 25 replies because then your REPLY post will start page 3 and not have changed page 2.... the key thing is changing the page that does not work... at least that usually seems to work

If tank fails test then you have yard art. Part test is if it stamp and meets DOT spec.
So own a tank that can not be filled.

Beating a very dead horse here.

If you know what you are looking at it is perfectly fine to acquire welding cylinders used second hand.

You are missing the plan entirely. YOU NEVER take a expired tank to get it filled not a used one you just bought and not even your own unless you are in love with the tank or something. You exchange it where they do exchanges.
Buying a used out of date is no different than one of your own expiring. Are you expecting your tank to fail and only get 10 years out of one because they just fail all the time. That isn't the case.
You would be dumb to take a expired tank to get it filled. You have to pay the hydro then yourself and one of yours that needs hydro could fail just as easily as a used one that expired. No difference. Good thing is if tank is in good cosmetic condition on the outside it has a really good chance it will pass. Have you seen how old some tanks are. 50-60 years some of them still passing hydro.
But to avoid that if expired you simply take the tank it and get it exchanged where they exchange and then you don't even have that tank anymore.

The laptop is Windows 10 running Microsoft edge. Fine this morning of course. I usually didn't get the 502 forever but it was like a hour it wouldn't load page 2. It was just telling me to give up on convincing someone used tanks can be purchased with little risk if you know what your looking at.

Just do want someone buying yard art.
So doing CPR on a horse saves money
Now all we is someone to do mouth to mouth on a horse.

    Not me

I just got an 80 cu from Airgas with PraxAir name on the ring!
This is handy because there is (was?) a PraxAir about 30 miles from here.
    Air Gas is 24 miles.

Anyone on WW purchased/used these cylinders?

As per my reply at post #39 from 2 weeks ago:

    => UPDATE:

My e-Bay purchase of a 80 CF argon cylinder was cancelled by the seller as they would not ship to Hawaii.

Local Craigslist has some used cylinders but they looked like they were leased units someone was selling illegally.

I ended up purchasing from IOC in Indiana for $195 (https://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.c...lium-and-mixes), for delivery to my freight forwarder in California, for ocean freight to Hawaii. $195 each 80 cf cylinder, free shipping to California. My freight forwarder charge was $106 from California to Hawaii for one cylinder and $107 for two cylinders. I decided to purchase two 80 CF cylinders and, total cost for the 2 is about $500, delivered to me.

If I leased/rented a cylinder from AirGas here the daily rental/lease if $1.30 per day, so after 1 year it would have been near $500 for only 1 cylinder. Purchase was a better deal.

My 2 cylinders arrive this Friday.

I happy you got your tanks
Most my tanks I own for last 35 years. Only have 4 tanks own/exchange type. Here they own exchange type no rental. But I payed full price.

I have had ship foot steel parts to Hawaii, Alaska is just as bad for shipping.

The 80's are anybodies game. Names mean nothing to any of them on the 80's. You are never committed to the name on the neck ring whatsoever for a 80 because they are all customer owned and they intermingle and interchange freely.
