sa 200 green light oil pressure switch

Me got 1973 planning to sell to friend got running rebuilt mag, carb, set governor 115 on rec then working on other side alternator seem not charging on gauge or oil pressure green light does not light up, so went checking oil pressure switch hook test light on wire connection light came on with engine off? Me thinking that it supposed to be on with engine running? Okay went ahead with test light on started the engine and light went off with engine running? Disconnected wires started engine again it will not idle down with wires unhook? Know idler board need 12 volts , so any ideas thinking oil pressure switch normal off when engine running?

Sounds like you have the wrong oil pressure switch. The switch should have continuity "ONLY" when the engine is running. Go to Stumps, BWparts, Welderparts warehouse, Bills welding repair, They will have the correct oil pressure switch for this application.

Re: sa 200 green light oil pressure switch

Yes, I've done some silly things myself trying figure out what was happening on certain things. When adjusting the valves, I just rotate the engine and watch the valves as they close and then turn a tad more so I know that the tappet is on the heel of the cam lobe, and had never had a problem. Although, if the valve lash is correct, then there is something else going on of course.
