    Cheap 1/2" indexable lathe tools work great. Insert screw? Not so great.

    Hate them. Not enough hold down force, and the microscopic allen loves to strip when trying to get the tension correct. And since they taper at the top also, they are a pain to get loose once they strip. Hard to grab onto with anything. And kind of a pain to source replacements.

    If they are gonna be janky, I figured I'd go all out. Contrary to net info, neither of my sets are metric, but rather imperial 6-32. Which happens to be the same as duplex wall cover screws. Ugly? Oh yes. Very ugly. Taper? Wrong taper. Too shallow.

    Do they work? For how ugly they are, they work *just fine*. MUCH better. And for $8 I have hundreds of replacement screws.

    6-32 x 1/2 stainless oval head Phillips.

    I'm sure there will be many, offended at my redneckery. My apologies in advance.

    All insert screws that I have come across in the last 45 years are "TORX" head.
    No wonder you strip them out using a hex key.
