    I seem to recall blades like that described as "chip limited" meaning that cut rate is reduced. Can't find anything to support that though...

    Not sure but I have one almost just like it. It may be for cutting very hard stone like granite.

    As opposed to a cross cutting blade.

    Definitely not a "glue line rip" blade, though. I suspect the wood is gonna come out looking more like rope than wood after that sledgehammer maul gets done with it.
