    MiG gas settings

Hi all, I am a beginner welder and just bought a Vulcan Omnipro 220. I have mig welded a little before but regarding the C25 gas the manual says to check the SCFH value chart for pressure settings and I don’t see them anywhere? Thanks for any input.

SCFH is not pressure but rather a flow-rate. Standard Cubic Feet per Hour. Make sure your flowmeter/regulator reads in these units.

For standard short circuit MIG using a 1/2" diameter nozzle, and 030/035 wire, you need roughly 20 - 35 CFH depending on joint geometry/stickout/breeze/draft conditions.

Most people run 15 CFM indoors.

How could you know what "most people" are using? It's SCFH not CFM.

I've seen a lot of folks talk about flow rate for this type of MIG and rarely does anybody mention anything under 20 SCFH.

Yep, I sure don't like to go that low (15 CFH), that's for sure. 20 CFH is usually the lowest I go, but I do have a portable AC in my area with another fan helping to circulate cool air so that changes things as opposed to no drafts. If I'm using pulsed-spray then I'm at 25 CFH minimum to acount for a longer stickout.
