I had one like that but it was missing the ratcheting mechanism for the down feed.

Great idea! I'm glad I held on to my old F-350 rotors, I'm gonna whip one of those up. I already have a number of tools that have receiver bar mounts, the brake rotor will work great on a vise if clamped to the welding table.

I understand you properly clamp that contraption to the table before doing any work on the tool of choice, right? Doesn't seem heavy enough to stand still by itself if you try to work on anything fixed to, say, the vice!

Other than that, looks really good.

Funny. I had a similar project using an old rotor. I made a tetherball pole to keep the family more active using a fence post welded to an old hub. That bolted to an old rim with the rotor in the middle. But I filled the tire with 8 gallons of RV antifreeze too.

You are correct Mikel (and thank you). Truth be told I made the base initially just to display the little post drill press I found.

While versions of this may work occasionally for others I personally prefer dedicated tool mountings for safety and efficiency. This is possible of course as I am blessed with an abundance of work space.
