I have a spot that is only good for annuals due to light. I may beets and turnips. I have been told they hit them hard after it gets cold

turnips, brassica and radish are all annuals....the cold turns them sweet after the first frost..it must turn whatever carb material into sugar...but the deer love them.....but whether annuals or perennial..you still need enough light for them to grow..

I want to try turnups and beets but it does not get that cold in WV
That is a roadkill deer that I dragged up into the field. Little did I know how many critters it would attract. Fox, bear, bobcat, skunks, coon, coyotes. The smell didn't seem to spook the deer at all. They still came to the apple tree. Nothing beats the apple tree. Deer come in to it everyday. You will notice that all the game camera pics are at night.

(just my theory).
Your theory makes a lot of scents
