I am in the process of building a machine shop to facilitate my dream of building motorcycles. This has been an exciting adventure so far, albeit kind of expensive.
I'm up in the Pacific Northwest, my name is Reed. It is my hope that these pages will keep me from making too many "expensive" mistakes in my quest. I'm not a machinist by trade nor am I that great of a welder but I do spend an awful lot of time trying to be.

It's a start on a journey that does not have a definitive end. Tooling for the machines has been a learning experience in of itself. Hopefully I'll live long enough to wear the machines out, I guess we will see.
I watched a couple episodes of OCC. you don’t need a machine shop to build motorcycles, you need a credit card. A TIG machine and a few cuss words at your kids and you’re off to the races.

Hi Reed and welcome. Looks to me like you're off to a good start. Just take a step back, look over the situation and start knocking on some doors. Advertising is EXPENSIVE without doubt. Flapping your gums and doing small jobs will get your foot in the door. All the best!!
Definitely looks like you are off to a good start. What type of motorcycles do you plan on building? Is this a custom built one off cycles adventure, new line of repeatable models like Harley etc or a motor cycle repair / modify shop? Will you have powder coating or paint booths or outsource all the final colorings and trim?

Lincoln, ESAB, Thermal Dynamics, Victor, Miller, Dewalt, Makita, Kalamzoo. Hand tools, power tools, welding and cutting tools.
Currently the plan is to locate motorcycles that need that guy who will investigate, repair, modify, upgrade and bring back to life, highly sought after vintage bikes that people have given up on because of whatever reason. I'm that guy. Currently I got super lucky and tracked down a 1968 Norton P11!!! This thing is so freaking perfect it has all original parts and all numbers match. However it needs some of its parts machined (unable to find them). I will machine the parts that it needs on the lathe and bring it back to it's former glory. Also I like to build random ATV's, buggy's, UTV's and anything else that I can put a motor on and rip! Anything that requires welding, fabricating, machining, cutting or upgrading, I LOVE it. I'm semi retired so this is to keep me "living" life to it's full potential. As far as painting? Oh yeah! The shop is getting a paint booth in February ��If luck shines down on me

Maybe someone else can explain why the 2nd pic uploaded and why they are not right side up. I can skin a buck and run a chalk line but evidently I can't upload a simple picture onto a web site forum.

I always liked those anti-gravity cycles! My father-in-law & mother-in-law each had a Honda dream back in the day his was white with bags & hers was red with bags.

Maybe someone else can explain why the 2nd pic uploaded and why they are not right side up. I can skin a buck and run a chalk line but evidently I can't upload a simple picture onto a web site forum.

Yeah, they buy everything, then weld some ugly as$ art work all over it. Only functional fabrication I've seen them do is a gas tank.

How exactly are you uploading? from phone or tablet?? do you have auto rotation turned on is from a phone or tablet???
I was gonna make a crack about having the anti-gravity options too... but I see caveman beat me to it
I use a simple proggie called irfanview to 'right' and resave images with the correct meta data saved http://irfanview.com/
