that I dont know, but as items come to market they reduce in price rather fast..remember whe flat screen tvs first came out..they cost as much as a car..now for $700 you can get a 75 inch flat screen...maybe less..but I dont know the initial cost of this laser system..
Unfortunately, there is a rather large drawback - the cost. These state-of-the-art contraptions ain’t sitting on Machine Mart’s shelves for £50. The cheapest version on the market is a much smaller, less-powerful 20W unit that starts at $80,000 (£62,000). That 1000W specimen from the video would set you back an eye-watering $480,000 (£370,000). So it’s fair to say that laser rust removal is probably out of the reach of most petrolheads trying to restore their project car for next month’s car meet.

Re: pretty neat laser rust removal...
Someone else posted a thread on that rust cleaning laser about a year ago. Very nice and fast but I am sure it will be 15-20 years before the patents run out and the price comes down to where it is cost effective for mass market consumption.

If a fellow could afford that he probably wouldn't be working with rusty old pipe anyway.

I think for restoring priceless or super expensive cars, trucks or anything metal, it would pay for itself in time...

Nothing, supposedly, initially anyway.
In some of the videos the put their hand on the test piece, blast away with the laser, which doesn’t hurt their hand, but leaves an outline where their hand was placed that didn’t clean. Flesh absorbs instead of reacting violently, like the base material. Same with some high powered laser pointers. I would be concerned with the long term effects though. I’m sure there’s probably an equivalent time that you would spend on a beach in open sun though, like flying on an airplane and receiving a dose of radiation, and it’s probably measured in months, if not years.
I looked into these, like CNC laser tables, you can buy units from China cheaper, but as we all know many manufacturers there play fast and loose with specs and safety protocols so there’s no way I’m trusting them on something that could permanently blind you in an instant.
