Need help with my e684x1 helmet

Hey guys I was using this welder for stick welding and like an idiot I thought I had the little protection lens on the inside part of the filter but didn’t and it got some crap on it which won’t come off bc it is embedded in it. Still seems to work okay but not sure if it’s safe or not. To purchase a new filter was basically the same price as helmet so I bought a used one on eBay. It worked before putting it inside which I tested by using the grind button to what it blink so I knew it worked. When I went to put the filter and control back in helmet the connector band broke and now I have no way to fix it. I thought soldier and wire but it’s not working and won’t stick to that copper tape. Is there anyway to fix this hate to throw it out. Hate when things are so expensive and they are made like crap.
