Bid in an On line auction and won a 4 tier rack contents. I was just looking for some material to have on hand and it seemed like a good price. I didn't have time to preview it and had to go off of the pictures. For my all in price of 375.00 I brought home..
About 30 sheets of assorted perforated 3'x8', stainless, steel and aluminum.
15 sheets of 4'x8' of the same.
    2 -4'x8' sheets 10 gauge 304 stainless.
    20 gauge stainless 1- 5'x10', 8 sheets 2'x10', 26- 2'x4', assorted pieces.
    20 sheets 3'x5' 18 ga. Galv.
    1- 4'x8'x3/8" AR400 plate
    4 - 3'x10'x3/8" A588 plate with some cuts.
1- same but not sure of grade.
2 trips and a rental trailer leaves me with plenty for projects... next is a plasma cutter.
Pic of some of the sheets.

    Re: Steel Prices Increasing?

Average prices of various commodities in May 2020 under President Donald Trump versus prices in May 2021 under President Joe Biden:

Gasoline: $1.77 under Trump vs. $3 under Biden.

Lumber: $332 per 1,000 board feet under Trump vs. $1,570 per 1,000 board feet under Biden.

Home sales: $283,500 under Trump vs. $329,100 under Biden.

Coffee: $0.96 a pound under Trump vs. $1.50 a pound under Biden.

Wheat: $5 a bushel under Trump vs. $7.42 under Biden.

Corn: $3.19 a bushel under Trump vs. $7.22 a bushel under Biden.

Copper: $2.33 a pound under Trump vs. $4.76 a pound under Biden.

Not to worry -- after US companies go out of business for lack of (affordable) raw materials, I'm sure the Biden family's benefactors in Red China will be happy to sell us whatever we need. Got fentanyl?

covid deaths 400k+ trump VS 80k biden.
but biden did manage to get over 200 million shots vs 16 million for trump.

US wood suppliers are not getting more $ per ton than last year, the US saw mills are, due to shortage of manpower= higher prices, just like the rest of items on your list.
hiring has always been difficult and even more so as most find an excuse now. wait till the unemployment ends, things will stabilize.
prices had started going up in september 2020.

Yep. It did not bother me to use 20 ft of 1 inch solid bar on a job since the price was the same as 24 feet 1x1/8 tubing.

    Re: Steel Prices Increasing?

OnMay 26, a client calls me and says, the steel is at the yard ready for pickup. She paid for it. 4 pieces .25x4x4x20 long. Previously we had discussed me handling the ordering of the metal, so the call was out of the blue. I did not pick up the metal, because they were not ready for the project to begin and had no reason to have that mass on my shop yard or racks. The did not even know the length the wanted cut. So this week client calls, ready for you to measure the project. I measured it. Then call the vendor. After locating the bill, the sales lady says we will can apply the credit to the new total or we will be happy to give a full refund. Client paid 1410 bucks for the steel on May 26. On July 23 it is 3200 bucks.

This is not my regular steel vendor. Not really my issue since she jumped the gun on ordering.

However, seem strange the would increase the price on an order that has been paid for. At least call the client and tell them to remove it. My vendor pull order and stores them after the have been paid for.

Finally what is the going rate for .25x4x4 tube.

I've always found that to be a silly phrase.

The people that I know that have money, they got that way because they know

exactly what their costs are and they pay close attention to them.

will find out Monday. The irony is after measuring, they only need 3 pieces. And that will not bring the total price close to the original.

They must have money. The calculated 4 instead of 3 pieces, they chose .25 wall square tube instead smaller for support of a wood deck. Seems like they have an engineer friend.

This will be interesting. I have not even given an estimate for labor since there was so much unknown.

I was quoted $130 for a 24' length of 2" square .065" wall, which seems in line with your quote
