Hello from WV/VA line

Hey guys. Just found this forums while trying to research for an entry mig machine. Picked up a Lincoln buzz box last year and haven’t been able to put it down since. Have had a ball welding and have significantly improved but thin stuff is tough. Have been looking at the Lincoln 180 pro mig and the Everlast Power mig 200. Have looked at Hobart and few others also. Even Harbor Freights machines. Trying to stay under $1000. Any advice would help as far as transformer vs inverter etc. Thanks.

Welcome! an inverter is nice because they can offer bells & whistles that a transformer can't, but at the cost of reliability. The Harbor Freight units seem to be much better than they used to be. Transformer machines seem to be more bulletproof. Enjoy your new hobby & best wishes on finding the machine that works best for you.

if you want to keep the cost down, try searching craigslist for a good used welder that may fill your needs.
