Nice and good price, less than $1/lb.. I have one just like it from 1974, one of the earliest ones made with an HD serial number.

HD is 73. First year they used the letter date codes. J codes for the 80's start at JA for 1980. Funny Miller doesn't use I in date codes. Maybe so it doesn't get confused with a 1?

They are great machines for sure. I had one for several years then back to a Lincoln Idealarc250. I’m just a Lincoln guy I guess, both machines are better than I am. Lol.

I found this picture of mine. It was a 1980 Blackface. I had the custom tread plate hood made for it. Smooth welding machines

Wow, that's a steal! I haven't seen a decent one under $500 in quite some time.

The manual for mine is dated Nov. 74. Mine is the next number from the starting number. I haven't seen any earlier manual.

That's likely just a later version of the manual and the machine hasn't changed from late 73 models.

The first ones were white face with little rectangular holes in the front panels instead of the louvres

How much for the machine with leads and everything? Also how much does it weigh?

The plug is wired up and it's ready to plug in and weld. Test it any time.

Weight is around 350-375 lbs as I recall - it's an industrial machine.

Leads depend on what you want.

Light duty leads aren't very expensive and this set goes to 200 amps at 100% duty cycle.
Which means you won't overheat them even at max with this machine.

If you want heavier/longer leads, I can include them, but they can get expensive depending what you want.

Thanks for the quick response. I'd have to ship it so unfortunately that weight rules it out for me. I didn't realize how much those things weigh.

I sold a Dialarc 250HF to a fellow in Ohio?, if I remember. Mine included a TIG outfit along with cooler & 50' leads. It sticks in my mind it cost $190 to ship. Guy was here, called himself Tuscany. Maybe his memory is more accurate.

From what I've seen, that's as good a price as one is likely to get.

The Fastenal company has store-to-store shipping that is tough to beat as well.

A SWEET welder from a reputable seller. I don't need it, but I'm tempted.

I've researched a bit and read that this machine would require around 80 amp service to run well. Could I even run it off of my dryer outlet?

Not a dryer outlet but a 60 amp or maybe even a 50 amp would work if you're not at the top end.

I’ve always ran my Dialarcs and Idealarc250’s on 50 amp service and not had any issues
