Yes - I entered the Piscataway, NJ rate for the 40# argon bottle.....blew thru the whole bottle welding ...well ..... nothing! Just running 5" worm lines practicing on a scratch start tig setup!

Re: The DEFINITIVE Welding Gas Costs Thread.

I just added entries for three of four cylinders I just had filled. I also have a 90CF tank and there's no place to enter it. Using the 80 CF line would cause a more than 10% pricing error....

FWIW, all were filled at Carolina Carbonics and Hydrotest in Greensboro, NC. I own all my tanks, including the 280 and 320 CF ones. I didn't have issues getting them filled in Central NY where I used to live and where I did business with the same supplier for nearly 30 years. I did have some push-back at other suppliers on filling large customer owned cylinders here in NW NC after moving here last year as I've had them for years and don't have proof of ownership anymore. And all of them had to send the cylinders out to be filled.

All my tanks needed testing and I had the three steel ones sandblasted and painted (The fourth tank is an aluminum oxygen tank). They charged $22 ea to test all the cylinders and $17 ea to sandblast and paint the steel cylinders. It seemed very fair to me. I had all four cylinders tested, three of them sandblasted and painted, all of them filled and one valve replaced for less than $300.

Carolina Carbonics gave me no grief at all about my large cylinder, did all the work and filling in house and overall, it was a good professional experience. They get a from me....

    Thanks

Thanks. The more people constantly enter in their info the more comprehensive the list gets, even if you're paying the same price 1x per year or 50x per year, it all helps answer that all important question: what are you guys paying for XXXXX gas now a days?

All 150 cf high pressure cylinders are owner tanks. None are rented or leased. Same thing for 92 cf.

Except for the Navy surplus cylinder sitting in my garage which like many military surplus cylinders has a blank neck ring. For 25 bucks figured it was worth the experiment. It was high pressure nitrogent and is now high pressure argon. My local Airgas managed to get it hydro'ed/painted/serviced but since it takes forever next time I'll drive to an inspection station myself. I don't really need the high pressure feature but I love cheap cylinders and never running low on gas. I collect and rebuild regulators so that was cheap too.

How much are you guys paying to swap out a "B" bottle of acetylene?

I've got some pipe sweating to do, and realized I need gas. Roberts Oxygen, which normally treats me pretty well, just quoted me a price of $48 to swap out a B bottle.

Does that sound high to you, or am I just behind the times?

That's a cool little database, thanks Oscar!

(Might need to enlarge the "price" field to add several digits to accommodate AirgasH prices, though!)

Not yet, since I didn't complete the purchase yet – just called in for price. I'm hoping when I walk in and they see I have an account, they'll lower the price.

Re: The DEFINITIVE Welding Gas Costs Thread.

I submitted my first swap on the survey. My invoice is for a 65 CF tank, but the survey doesn't have that listed. I went with 75 CF, but that could throw off some people.

I also submitted the cost without tax.
