Lis2323 the chart on your DP shows it already goes down to 150 rpm...?

    I stand corrected.

I think I got the RPMs below 100.

I used a handheld photo laser tach for the reading.

Very few, if any, of these smaller drill presses are geared right. A good metal drill should run down in the 70rpm range, same with a mill. My small mill only goes down to 230rpm, which is ridiculous. It really puts a crimp in using larger diameter cutters.

Correct, but you can use a large cutter in size, and depth over a standard mag drill..Drill press would be my last option for me..Collets are a great way to hold the cutters

The vertical milling adapter is VERY cool. I remember when you picked it up a while back.

I just checked. My gear head drill press goes down to 75 RPM.

You're 50hz in Canada aren't you? I always forget that not all countries run at 60hz.

60hz in Canada also so that would be 90 RPM. (Oops)

I traded a Curmaster 60i for the complete mill. I had to do the driving with the F-150 over a few mountain ranges to get it. The guy had quite a few offers on the head alone. The other 60i got me a 3 phase converter motor thrown in. The twin to my 3 phase cutmaster got my the Vertical slotter local. Those Amazon cutmasters sure did help building up the machine part of the little shop I have.. I am probably going to give the Slotter to Jimmie at the coast. (If he wants it) I think he could find plenty of uses in his shop..

By the Sammy, going to put my house on the Market soon, and pretty much beat anything I have done in the Market. 360 k of the sale is tax free too. Plus no women in my life to bail out when I have a wad of cash.. Old dogs can recover, and even learn a few tricks along the way..

Are you considering downsizing? Or do ya have another place in mind that's about the same size. It's a nice place you're living on, except for the wooded area around the house. I'd not want too much fuel near a house up in that neck of the woods, even with your buffer zone.

    Sammy,
we probably have the best setup of hotshots, and layout in the state for fires.. You will see very little fires in out this area.. They jump on it quick, and BLM handles the fuel load pretty well with prescribed burns.

I will downsize for a bit, and whatever I find after that is up in the air.. I was able to part trade off my F-150 and mini camper for 2021 trailer.. Another long story there, but It gives me the option to sell that thing, and use the money to fix things up for the sale.. No interest loan is what it will be.. The RV has went up over 5 grand since I picked it up in April.

At this stage in my life, a home based shop is all I want.. If I have to build one, then so be it..Remember I sold my last place in Jan.2008,(not counting the fixers I helped a few others get into) and then it melted down good.. have a feeling might be time to jump on this thing, and get it sold..

If I do keep the trailer, then I have to use a line of credit to finish this place up..Either way works..Also, if I keep the Trailer, a 2 wheel drive 460/440/454 gasser will pull it to it's next spot.. The gas prices will drive down the cost on those truck.. Old school stick, and big block will work perfect for limited use..I have a few other options on what direction I might go...

    Re: Annular Cutter Arbor

What would be the advantage of annular cutters over drill bits in a good drill press?
Can annular cutters be re sharpened. Canada's Hydro is 50hz At least here in Manitoba.
I noticed my equipment ran slower here than in the UK.
    Thanks.

Annular cutters cut a true hole, and with fewer hang ups than a typical hole saw. I use up to a 3/4 inch with a enco drill press, low speed and low pressure. For me it is slow but drills true.

PLUS annular cutters require less power as they are not removing the material in the middle of the hole like a twist drill.

You can also drill so the hole overlaps an edge or drill over an existing smaller hole using a different center.

Or drill a series of overlapping holes.

This is what I use for thin material. Sheet metal cutters which are in essence mini annular cutters.
