Do you have any pictures of the counter balance / shaker mechanism?

Here is a shot during mockup stage. The "flywheel" is a 50 pound barbell weight from Academy.
The shaft is standard 1" gokart axle I had laying around that was chopped down to make idler and crank shafts.
The hole in the weight was 1-1/16 and not well centered so I chucked it in lathe and centered/cleaned it out to 1-1/8 and used shim to center on 1" axle. I used a gokart hub keyed to shaft on each side for support and ease of mounting.
The flywheel took most of the shake out of the machine and it runs amazingly smooth.

Shot of other side showing crank assembly.
It's another gokart hub keyed and welded to shaft with a 3/4" bolt set at 1" offset for 2" total stroke.
The table swings from top suspended on 12" links and the double belt reduction gives 112.5 strokes per minute with motor running at 1800RPM.
The small pulleys are 3" and large are 12" and I use a simple cam-over lever to tighten belt and engage the shaker.
The original heim joint on crank is still alive after 10 months of hard use - we have a pillow block to replace it but it's still working so...just lube it!

Got some pics of Monday's project. Rusted out vertical pivot pipe. Of course it's a custom fit thing. Pretty easy though, got all the wiring out of the way today, pick up parts monday morning and get to it. Name: 20210924_134401.jpg

Are you gonna bury a couple of sacrificial blocks, and wire them to the replacement that you install?

The guys will come back in 10 years and wonder why your part looks like brand new,, and everything else got older,,

It's been tried. Not much difference. this pipe is in the 20 year old range, which isn't bad for the application considering the chemicals they pump through the systems.

JB weld is great for repair industry. You see JB weld now what charge goes up.

Dave, there is nothing left to weld to. Replacement of the pipe is the only fix. I didn't get to that one today, it rained and the wind blew pretty hard. No crop in the field so not a big rush.

I kid you not... I was in the local garage yesterday and there was an electrician's work van on the hoist. The brake line had been repaired with JB Weld.... so there, enough with the farmer fix jokes from you sparky guys!

Yup, it will probably do a couple more revolutions to get some moisture in before winter, and maybe some liquid cow poo for fertilizer and draw the lagoon down at the dairy. These guys have 2 different pipeline systems for both.

My friend used to grow turf near Spokane. I think he got his water from the Alcan settling ponds that were waste water from cooling during production I believe ?

Alcan, or Alcoa, Alcoa had a rolling mill out on Trent avenue that used a ton of cooling water. I do seem to remember a turf farm out that way.

Yes. Probably Alcoa. I think it was their land too. He had to knock down all the sand dunes I think. Long time ago....

Re: Show us what you welded today

Made some more progress on the suitecase weight bracket today. Tried to purchase two of the spring loaded keepers for the top of the bracket locally but the place was sold out. Have an offer in on ebay for a couple. In the meanwhile I am using a couple of 5/8" bolts to hold it in place for mock up and welding. The bolts hold it on there in place so it won't shift around and warp while welding it up. This is all I could get done before 10pm. Shut it down at 10. Tomorrow is another day.
