    Diacro no.3 Bender

This came up locally, asking $700 as seen in pic, so I presume I'd need additional tooling to be able to use this.

Hope to hear from someone who has experience with these, is this a good asking price?

I think that's a great price, especially if there's wiggle room.

It will be functional in that configuration with a little adjusting. You have a forming nose and pin, a center radius pin and mounting plate pin. Does it come with anything else?

That’s a fair asking price IMO. As mentioned if there is wiggle room all the better.

I have only seen one come up for sale in my area and I obviously grabbed it. It was only a No 2 for (under $300 USD) but it came with the OEM stand and some tooling.

You sir, stole that. Its nice to run into people who don't know what they have.

At the time I bought mine there was only one used #3 in the country and it was on the other side of the states from me. I'm about as far east as you can go in NC and it was about as far west in northern CA. I paid for it though and am happy with this purchase. I wish I paid under $300, I paid three times that.
Oh I love the stand, such a clean look. Did you repaint everything?

Lis2323, do you have a product you make with this or just whatever comes your way...it looks like you've fabed some of your own tooling?

@LtBadd. The Diacro was in sound shape and stored indoors but totally rusty.

I cleaned and repainted it. And no I don’t have any particular product I make with this. Just whatever comes up or catches my fancy.

Being retired means not HAVING to do anything I don’t want to.

    Lt,

What's great about these tools are the endless capabilities, especially the #3 with its capacity.

Go through there site to "tooling options" then you'll see "art of bending".

The tooling can be made quite easily to do just about anything.

I have read that, thanks. Still thinking about this, even though it seems a good buy I need to be able to earn the money back, or at least I'd like to

No problem, it is a good buy.
Earning the money, its not just the jobs that would need this tool but what this tool is capable of creating. That's what's great about being a fabricator.

What can you do with it as is?

There was one here on craigslist last week. At 1200 bucks. Restored with stand and some tooling. The seller might restore them since I recall another ]restored one a couple years ago.

I would pass unless it was ready to work for my needs. They look cool. I think I could do more intricate bends on it than with my hossfeld.

I don't think a whole lot, but then I have no experience using one but I do understand the basic operation.
It's amazing what little information there is on YT about these.

I don't have a mill or lathe so making tooling is not an option right now

    Re: Diacro no.3 Bender

Definitely buy it. I see them on auctions sites pretty regularly, and always for a pretty penny. $700 isn't bad at all, especially if it's within easy driving distance.

You don't need a lot of tooling for it. You might think you do, but you'll likely end up only using various dies once or twice even though you imagined using them hundreds of times. You tend to get stuck making one or two forms with any regularity.

Is it handy for the shop? Yep. But the best part is that you can always clean it up a bit and resell it down the road. Use it for a year, learn about it, see how it fits in with your needs, and sell it when you get tired of it. Even if you sell it for $500 (which would sell fast!), that only means you got to try the tool out for a year, basically renting it for $40/mo.

There's no downside to getting it unless you really can't afford it. Having it in the shop will allow you to make things quicker and easier, and with greater repeatability. You might come up with ideas that you wouldn't have otherwise. But if money's tight.... skip it. It could definitely help earn back its cost, and I don't know any shop that regrets having one, but if it's going to stretch the budget too much you might be better off without it for the time being.

How are you securing that when you use it?

Offer $400.00. Those are rarely for sale within 150 miles of me. It definitely can be handy.
I bought the Shop Outfitters Ring Roller 5 years ago from private party. I paid more than I wanted too for the first time. This is the Original made in USA and not a Chinese knockoff. I bought it because I never see the real ones ever for sale.
Their current model is $2,096.00 .
It is definitely handy for me.

To simplify the process, you should buy it and then mail it to me. That way you get the deep satisfaction of knowing you didn't let a good deal pass you by, and you also don't have to worry about it cluttering up your shop since you don't really need it.

Never let it be said I won't help a brother out!
