    Not Craigslist, but Marketplace.

I had to drive to Seattle to pick it up, but $1000.00 is not a bad deal Came with 75 ft of leads. I cleaned the carb jet, and it fired up, and ran perfect..
Lot of Morons was trying to beat the guy down, and he Knew it was worth about 3 grand running.. It was his Grandfathers rig.. He even threw in some electrodes

It has 10,000 KVA 460 3 phase along with 10 KVA 230 single phase. I can run my 3 phase plasma cutter on it.. Or other welders.. Clean power/ Welds nice too 20 hp Honda.

    Good deal!

fwiw - If someone is asking a reasonable price, I tell them I'll pay it if it's as advertised. That usually cinches the deal. Kinda what you did.

Cool! Could/did he provide you with any of its history, or better yet, of his Grandfather's and what kind of projects he worked on?

That has enough power to run a small heat treating or induction furnace.

He just wanted to know if I would show up? I keep my word, and that seems to be half the battle on selling stuff.. I drove a bunch, first selling a KTM Motorcycle in the other part of this state, and heading over to another, to seal the deal Little car made it cheap to do business.

it was bought mostly for the power side, but a bit to loud for his neighbors . So that is why there is 3 hours on it.. Guy worked at Boeing..

I had the 170 scout and kicked myself for selling it. I remember when these first came out.. It was one of the first with 460 3 phase.. Long before the Miller bobcat came out with a 460/480 machine..

    Cary,
    I play the long game..
I will not be letting rats build a nest n the machine, like Farmer Sam did with his brand new engine drive.. Different style long game..

Too me, it's just a way to upgrade my electrical power for limited use. I started with the Scout 170, for $400.00 years ago.. Sold it off for $1000.00 on Craigslist..I took that cash, and bought a Japan mad MQ-6000 genny on Ebay. It cost about $1000.00 (better for my Well Pump if needed) I am selling the MQ to my friend for cash or Labor on my house, at what I paid for it. That really will be a overall great deal on every way I look at it.. Trading labor on my house nets me huge gains for the original investment. The engine drive I have now is something I could take profit out of now or later. I like how it works for my needs, and will sit tight on it.. New engine drives that match this one are way up in price. Like 6/7 grand..

You buy in good shape vs rescuing basket cases of obsolete machines, scrap type stuff. Got it home and running, ready to use. While some say,,, I cant afford it,,, but seem to be able to get 3 or 4 non running units for 300 a piece that never do make a spark. Hard to find that kind of stuff here.

Good deal. I remember there was an issue with some of the Honda engines in the Thermal Arc welders but can't remember exactly what or if it was more related to the idler. You could run just about anything with the 460 3 phase power and being 3 phase, anything used is going to go really cheap because it's 3 phase. I've seen 3 phase industrial welders sell for under $100 at auction. Miller Dimension 452 multi-process machines were selling around $400 at an RB auction a few years ago. They are a very nice machine. I like them better than XMT's for Mig.

I bought one of those in '99 for the express purpose of moving irrigation machines before there was power in the trench and to run AC power tools,(I was all SA 200 in those days) it wasn't a bad welder either. I still see the current owner now and then and it's still running good with over 3K hours. I know of another with almost 6K hours. Not sure if it has needed any work. For a grand I would have jumped on it... Oh wait, I don't need any more stuff.

You just identified yourself as a married man.

Yeah, but who will keep my customers going up and down the road? I'm still 7-8 years out but nobody wants to do this stuff any more. The rest of the local truck shops are having tons of problems finding qualified people too.

You may not need any more stuff, BUT, do you want anymore stuff? We're in the same boat & had been wanting a side by side ATV/UTV type vehicle. I found one about a year ago for 3k, a POLARIS RANGER 500 4X4, I didn't get to it in time, but I told the buyer to let me know if he wanted to sell it, Sunday he told me I could have for what he paid for it. He had put a new wheel & some tires on it, I paid him & picked it up yesterday. It will only seat three people but that's more than we need, it has just over 300 hours showing. Not a Craigslist deal but still a pretty good price.

The Honda engines are easy to fix, that's if the plastic gears go from overheating with crap oil.. I will run triple ester base stock if I have too.. There are good, and bad units in every line.. I prefer how it work in certain ways over my 305 G I had.. Putting it in the middle tap, and fine adjust the amps for 3/32 or 1/8 rod it quieter then the enclosed Ranger by a bunch I have a LN-25 pro that will be nice with the CV in this unit.. I still take a Honda over a Kohler 20 hp. Does not sound like it's going to fly apart..

I am running my Esab cV-353 from a phase converter. Works great for Spray arc, but has trouble in the short-arc.. Might try it on 460 Thermal power.. Not that i need another short-arc machine. Those big old monsters can have excellent short-arcs to them.

Tried the Big 3 phase esab Transformer on the 460/3 of the Thermal.. Not enough juice to fire it off. It has to stay on my Rotary. Not all is lost, because my 3 phase 60i cutmaster, and Lorch Esab 220i is happy on the 460 power.. The Lorch will output 220 amps on 3 phase, and 200 on single phase power. It will used as needed.. Just gets it off the Rotary when I need a bit extra..
