First of all Ill make a brief introduction.

I am an electronic wireless engineer by trade, but I have an offroad truck project I am putting together. I have taken 2 years of welding in high school and I have a Lincoln 220v arc welder that I have used spuratically over the years for odd ball home fixings. With my truck project I am adding some 1/4" plate to the frame in a few places leaf spring mounts, roll cage mounts and also welding this plate to the axle housings for structural support. I have tried welding with the buzz box using 7018ac sticks and have had some success with the axle housing, but the frame has been not so good. I know of a guy who has a Lincoln WM250 with gun, consumables and a few extra spools of various wire sizes that I can purchase. I am just wondering what a good offer would be for this machine. Thanks for taking the time to read this and any information would be greatly appreciated.

Without seeing any pics I'd say anywhere from $750.00-$1,100.00 Depending on if it has a cylinder or not, and the condition it's in. If I remember correctly when these were new they sold for around $1,400.00-$1,500.00. Is it possible for you to weld with before you purchase? I've had several customers lately that have tried to purchase used Lincoln and Miller 250's at auctions, and they always bring very good money, sometimes a 3-4 year old machine will go for almost new money-crazy!!! If it's just you and the seller, and you know him well, maybe you can get a steal. Let us know how you come out, and good luck with the truck.

I see them go for $1200 on Ebone with no spool gun in good looking condition. I have one. Its one FINE welder. Everybody has their own preference, but I run .035 wire in it.

Just so you know, it has a copper/alulmunum transformer and the fan only comes on when you use it hard. Be sure to leave the welder on till the fan stops. I paid $1200 for mine with spool gun in 95. It was 2 years old. MANY rolls of wire have been through it.

Well I just purchased one for 450.00 and it works great. I bought it from a small fabrication shop that was selling all their older mig units to buy 1 tig unit. I would guess I got a good deal but they had 3 of them that they sold for that price. So maybe that is normal in Georgia? Dunno but thought I should chime in. Here is the link to the actual unit I bought so you can look at the condition. I also was allowed to test it first. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/tls/391224848.html
