    TWECO 211i - can't vary speed???

I just installed a 1 lb. spool of Lincoln .035 fluxcore (MR-211) in my new 211i, and all seems to work well. I didn't weld with it, just got the wire running through it and made sure the tensions weren't set too tight. What jumped out at me was that I can NOT seem to vary the speed. I turn the wire speed adjustment up and down between 100 and 600, and it just keeps coming out at the same speed (not sure what that speed is). Everything looks good, connections are good, etc. Stick mode is wonderful. Any tips? Please tell me this machine isn't broken!!!

    Thanks,

Weld with it. After the puddle starts it ramps up. If that doesn't happen you have an issue

I'm told the 2T/4T feature doesn't kick on until a puddle's started. So maybe it's the same with the wire speed.......? Are most wire welders that way?

I'm told wire feed speed isn't accurate until you begin welding.

Not sure if the above comments are right or wrong. The 211 has a run in feature that brings the wire speed up once the arc is established. On mine if I hit the trigger......not welding.......the wire comes out slow for about 6" or so then will go the speed.
