What is that, Bondo on there to smooth over the 'weld' ?

Likely hit, weld tore open, repaired (sort of), several times.

I dont know how I did it but has a little gap in this one,,, but I fill it, ha

I could easily weld that gap up with a little Cajun tig welding.

May be E6013 or E71T-11 or even brazing.

Oh come on Dave.... lol, we know you want to use hot 7018's....

One I work in construction and E7018 runs smoother hot.
If read all technical notes and do not heat why use E7018, just a different rod not so fussy like E7016 or E6013 no heat need.

Plasma fail.... yea, this is what happens to the consumables when you get in a hurry and forget to open both valves to the air supply. They become consumed.

Am I the only one that keeps used plasma consumables around ? Have no idea why. I’m going to make a point of throwing them out.

I have a couple used consumables laying around myself. Think I’m saving them for when I run out and need to order but the used ones will work well enough to separate two pieces quickly. I have yet to ever see the machine tell me the consumables need changed. Perhaps I don’t use them long enough to the point of meltdown. I still need a water separator etc for optimum clean dry air. ATM I just have the motorguard paper filter canister thing.

I just had that same discussion with myself. I think only the ceramics could be used again, so everything else is going. Questionable tips are only going to be hard on the machine.

This happened when I tripped over a hose, stepped all the way down on the pedal, and put my torch hand down on the aluminum by accident. I Didn't think it was that stuck, so I quickly flicked my wrist to free the tungsten.
ooops.... Oh well got plenty of green tungsten left (lots came with the machine) This is the aluminum block I use to test to make sure everything is OK before I weld on an important piece. Good thing my torch didn't land on the top of the cabinet, at 250 amps there would probably be a big hole.

My step son bought a gym several months ago. Things have been breaking ever since. I was there a while back and he showed me something that broke. He said they had "fixed" it once as a little Lincoln welder came with the business to "fix" things. I welded it back with the little Lincoln and a hood that didn't even have head gear in it.

Definitely a fail when the tungsten comes out of the side of the cup. I thought they were more prone to shattering.

What do you think the issue was? The consistently start bad the get better at the corner. Hot day moving away from the fan?
