I look at a lot of factory welds on farm equipment, and a lot of welds on equipment up for auction which were made by the owners of the equipment. I see a lot of "bad" welds.

BUT, thes welds have stood the test of time, and function. It's really amazing, and it makes me less eager to "flame" the so called hobby dooooods for what they do. It's just not my call.

I think the welds hold up because of the continuity. Rigidity. Isolating two pieces of metal from vibrating/moving is a powerful thing. Reduncancy (sp?) is a good thing too.........coupla weak welds can make one halfway decent weld.

I wouldn't reccomend it, but it sometimes seems to work

My only problem with most of the idiots is that they make these videos as a "How-To".

Not one of them can actually weld and they sure as hell shouldn't be teaching it to other people.

The thing with those brackets is that he was replacing them after he bent the original ones on the 1/4 mile.

The original bracket were fine until he fitted slicks.

Slicks, 4 speed and wild take off make for some big loads on those brackets.

Oh, he did make those welds look good by giving them a finger smear of black silicon.

Hey... You bunch of welding snobs!!!
Some of the comments may have been a little harsh, but you just can't weld anything and everything together.

There are two things that bother me about these posts and vids

    1. admitting your welds are bad but zero effort to improve them
    2. posing as an expert showing the rest of the world how to weld terribly

Maybe some of you 'welders' don't have the skills to get full penetration with the 'Idealarc' of the East. I think I'm put on my balaclava, grab a piece of tinted glass, head out to the garage and start my YouTube series 'How to Build an Equipment Trailer'

This thread needs two links posted here....1, the jackass that "builds" the muffler for his Ninja or whatever bike it was. 2. a site that show's horrendous welds, fabrication and extremely scary engineering on jacked up 4x4 trucks / jeeps etc... ( the site has something "taco" in the name ). I'll see if i can find them later...

    Almost.

I am suscribed to WeldingTips&Tricks newsletter and also to Lanse's channel on youtube. Luckily both concentrate on totally different nitches. One mostly on TIG (with some MIG and ocasional stick) for machine shops and the other on stick (with some MIG) for his own projects (later to be sold).

My welding is more on the side of Lanse but I also enjoy a lot Jodys videos. Both make great videos as well.

Thanks guys Glad you like the videos, Ive got plans to make a lot more how-to's, and possibly re-make a couple of my older videos. The channel is really growing with everyone's support, and I'll have more videos here soon

Yeah, Jody's really cool, I watch his videos too... He knows everything about TIG that I need to learn lol
