After wathching the video of the GE Farm Welder, I had to have one just for nostalgia. I looked on ebay many times and nothing. I was away for the weekend and got a phone call from a friend who was at a swap meet, and BAM! he found one $50 bucks! For its age its in great shape, and it works on top. I'll probably never use it, but it made my whole weekend, l love it!

WoW! What a find! It has just the right patina, too! Only long years of barn storage can achieve that!

Congratulations on the find! Your friend is a real pal to call you and snag it for you!

He helps me on jobs, and I always quote stuff from the Farm Welder vid, and we both laugh  When he called me 3 times in a row a minute apart, I was thinking somethings wrong, I better call him right away. When he told me about the find, my smile was wider than my face! It made more than my weekend, i'm very happy Thanks bro, i'm gonna leave it as it is, and now I need a sign to compliment it!

I have my eye on an old Lincwelder AC180-C locally. They were made from about 1948 to 1952. If the guy will come down on price, I might get it. ANother I'd ike to have is a Midstates welder, the one that has maybe 16 tap sockets on the front arranged in a big "M" shape.

I believe FEXAL from here has one for sale!

Yep, I did have one for sale. I sold it yesterday for $260. 1944 and it still welded like a champ. I ran a line of 7018 and 6011 and it was great. The dude was happy to have it. It was a "Missing Link" welder and looked like R2D2.

The AC180-C here looks just about like an Idealarc 250. I believe the switch on the right is a dig control.

Those old videos are neat to watch, I've watched both several times. Makes me nostalgic for those times in this country. Simpler times , men were men, your word was your bond. People helped their neighbors and everyone worked hard. No PC stuff then, if you were offended, to bad!

LOL... those videos may have been current when this thread was started...

First people get told to use searchy the wonder skull (inside joke from a wargame board- their search button was a flying borg skull). Then people complain when someone necroes a thread from ten years ago because that's what searchy dug up. I'm never sure whether to sigh or laugh.

... just pull out the popcorn and go along for the ride...
