    Have you guys seen this?

Real-time 3d HDR imaging for extreme dynamic range.

I hope the you tube link works.

That's some really cool stuff. I've been shooting HDR images for a bit now, but the real time HDR vision is just amazing.

    Awesome, right?

In a few years I'm sure they will have an affordable helmet with this technology and a USB port to adjust all the setting from a computer or record a welding session.

    Very cool.

To me it seems to have so many ways to improve what we do. In listening to the video, you do not need to wear the helmet. "The camera can be mounted and you can watch a screen." Think about welding Titanium in a purged environment. You could just watch a monitor and weld. Magnification is another thing that came to mind. No more looking around the cup to see the puddle...just zoom in.

Cool concept but they should hire a real welder to make the video. Watching a tig artist would showcase the benifts of this technology. Just sayin

I have seen several comments like this. Isn't the point of the video to show the system pointing out the errors in technique? If it were a perfect display of welding the system wouldn't show us much... no?

Having a hack for the demonstration does nothing positive for the video.
Would you want to see someone's grandma showing off new ferrari handling capabilities?
From a teaching stand point & micro welding it is a really cool setup.
