Online abrasives
Which online supply has the best prices on cutoff disks, grinding wheels and wire wheels? Right now I use Grainger or LWS.

Re: Online abrasives
Ditto Lehigh Valley Abrasives. Not quite as good as 3M or other big names, but easily 1/4 the price.

Re: Online abrasives

Re: Online abrasives
I'm a Sait guy. Love their stuff as far as wheels go. Their .045 Z-Tech wheels are the best I have used. The Pipeliner line of grinding wheels are very well priced & last quite well.
I like those too, along with PFERD.
I generally get them from MaineOxy.for under $2.00 ea (with account)
Buy American, or don't whine when you end up on the bread line.

Re: Online abrasives
I am all over the map on this.
Most of my abrasives come from Enco
I have bought Klingspor for stainless work, based on a recommendation from someone who works with stainless a lot. $50 minimum, I recall.
I have just started to buy from "A cut above". They came highly recommended, as being helpful and knowing their stuff. Not much of a web site, just call and talk to them.

Re: Online abrasives
I've used Roark Supply in So Cal. Use the coupon code GRIT and get 10% off. The no name US made flaps and cut off wheels work well. http://www.roarksupply.com/
ENCO is having a Feb sale on some abrasives, Cubitron discs, CGW flaps and other import flaps, Roloc, etc.

Enough stuff to build and repair wrinkled up race cars or bring a classic back to life...

Re: Online abrasives
Red Label Abrasives has been my go-to. I originally started buying sanding belts from them, because the belts I was ordering from combat seemed to break prematurely. I've started using their flap discs too (https://www.redlabelabrasives.com/products/flap-discs) and those have been working really well. The ceramic does a good job of cleaning up welds and there isn't a ton of heat build up either. They gave me a 15% discount on the first purchase for joining the mailing list. I think they're still running that promotion. They also have quantity discounts and I'm pretty sure they run a decent sale at the end of each year. I would imagine they'll have another one this year.

Thanks Kelvin, very much a real person. 27, work in digital, weld in free time. Currently working on modifying a boat trailer so that it can hold my boat mast. I've heard of Lehigh, but haven't tried them yet. Their prices are surprisingly cheap. The discs last a while?

Re: Online abrasives
Although I really don't remember this thread, I have made multiple purchases from Lehigh Valley and am very pleased. I'm satisfied with the quality, price, and service. I really don't look anywhere else for abrasives.

Re: Online abrasives
www.weldingsupply.com also carries a lot of stuff. It's hard to find on the website sometimes, but if you have part #s, you can pull them up fast. I want to try some of their ceramic grinding discs.

I use weldingsupply.com for most of my welding needs, except large orders of abrasives and lead. I am kinda friends with a couple of the counter guys at their physical location. And most often I go to their warehouse instead of having it shipped. Yes, their website is not the easiest, but in time it gets easier. And like you said, part numbers help a ton.

Re: Online abrasives
I just looked through my Lehigh Valley orders. I've made four small orders in just under a year. Three of those orders had items that never shipped. I waited for weeks every time and ended up having to call and ask about the parts. Ended up just canceling the remaining unshipped parts of the orders. At the time of ordering there are no warnings about things being out of stock.
Anybody else having these types of issues? I like the prices, and people speak highly of them. Their custoner service team is very responsive. But even I, just a DIYer messing around in the garage, need what I need, when I need it.
