New welder, new member, new sculpter :-)

Hi folks,

I've been reading for a while, but I'm definitely a new welder - I'm taking sculptural welding classes at the local art center. My college education is in design, my day job is software engineer, and I've been wanting to get into welding-as-art for years.

So, I'm going to continue reading - lurking mostly - but I'm also looking for tips on what equipment I can get started with. I'm learning gas and mig mostly in class, as well as basic fabrication techniques, with a focus on just trying stuff out.

Anyway, I'll continue reading and hopefully get some tips on setting up my first small shop.

Welcome! I am a relatively new welder too...working on teaching myself oxy-acetylene welding for steel and aluminum.

looking forward to seeing pics of whatever you make.
