Jody on weldingtipsandtricks has some TIG fingers, fiberglass weave material it looks like. Might take a look at those and see if it's what you need.

I bought one of those, but haven't used it yet. Unfortunately, when I showed it to my pipe fitter buddy, he laughed and said, "tell me you are not going to put a f'n condom on your finger when you tig weld"!!!

I'm not a welder just weld a little here at the house on pipe fence or tractors or implements. So I just tear that left glove up grabbing rough hot material just thought about that tape just to keep in a pinch . I understand they sell only the left glove when I get a new one I believe I'll wrap the thumb and index to start with to save on the glove .

I have a few of those welding finger condoms. I find that 90% of the time, finding a comfortable place to steady is difficult. Sliding along the material with the finger condom is really nice, until they fail. And they can.

I was moving right along on a bunch of 3/16" aluminum when OH FCK THAT'S HOT the tig finger melted a hole.

So... I dont tig but it occurs to me that you might not want to put your finger on hot steel. so why not make a metal tip ie wire that go onto your finger over your glove and IT runs down the hot metal. Provideing a small insulation layer of distance perhaps 1/2 inch. Just a thought.

Thats a good idea, but the heat radiating off the metal will still cook your fingers. Even with a tig finger sometimes my other fingers will get so hot I've got to stop welding.

Unless I miss my guess, the TIG fingers are made out of a ceramic fiber. Most likely from by 3M.

I only buy left handed welding gloves, and use a lighter riggers glove on the right hand, pity I can't buy only right handed riggers gloves.
