Fibre metal pipeliner hood

Light as a feather bud, youll love it. I threw a hood a few weeks ago out of frustration and cracked the chin on it, then the head gear stripped out on it so I picked one up at my lws. Its awsome. I have the long pipeliner one from fibre metal, but no comparison. I never even use that one, just to big and bulky. I actually have two of the bigger ones, just realized it. Those are called tigerhoods tho. On the pipeliner style, junk tho. The pipeliner is the SH!T

They need a flip up on the pipeliner thought.

They do it is called a tiger hood. It isn't an exactly like the pipeliner but they say this is it. I have two tiger hoods.

If you want light, you want a Huntsman, the paper/cardboard one. I've been using mine for over 10 years, I love it. Not much to look at, but that slide lens sure is handy. Just don't let it get wet.

One last point to consider about the good ol' Fibre Metal pipeliner is that it is still.... MADE IN THE U.S.A. Every welder in The United States should go out and buy one for that reason alone.

This is what I mean when I say the Fibre metal Autodarkening lens is crystal clear and not a cheap lens. There is no sick annoying greenish yellowish tint. The color is true and pretty close to an athermal gold passive lens. An athermal gold passive lens is a hundred times better than any el cheapo gold glass or polycarbonate gold lens in my opinion. Well worth the $25.00 investment.

i was interested in getting this lens and a pipeliner hood, but i noticed when i clicked on the link to buy one it said it was green tint . i hate that green tint look

I have one that's lasted me since high school. I don't use it everyday because I want it to last, but it's still 15 years old and it's still as good as day one. It's been through a few sets of headgear over the years. In my newer pipeliner hood, I run a auto darkening lens. Works great.

I have one and love it. I added a Sellstrom S27300 2" x 4 1/4" Lift Front Retainer, Fibre-Metal by Honeywell FM4001 Quick-Lok Helmet Adapter Kit and a ArcOne T240-10 Tradesman Auto-Darkening Horizontal Filter. Flip front was $20, hard hat adapter was $9, A/D was $60 and $50 for the hood.

Anyone have a fibre metal pipeliner hood? Is it any good? I would really appreciate feedback, as I've been wanting to purchase one, but I haven't found very much info on them!

That's all I use anymore. I like the flip front model for grinding. I use an auto dark insert lens in mine.

OP, I just picked up a pipeliner hood the other day also. Zoro had a great price and incredibly fast free shipping. I'm in the process of gathering all the essential supplies and I'll be buying a welder for hobby use soon. I'm going to get the sellstrom flip front and the arcone tradesman lense. I may update to the ratcheting head gear after I see how the elastic band works.

Had to trim the slot to get the ArcOne Tradesman into the Sellstrom flip unit.
