Nice workmanship. I have a Lincoln Power MIG 200. What setting and shielding gas did you use?

Not a pro here by any means with a mig. In fact I hardly ever touch it.
Playing around with a new machine and got it dialed in here after a quick bead or two. Will try to dial it in a little better.
.030 wire. c25 gas. 3

Got a new Everlast might last week. I haven't really mig welded except for spool guns for a few years but I'm trying to get my technique and settings back now


Not the most consistent but I'll figure it out.

Hey zt if you still ever get on here, when you do outside corners do you do edge to edge. Or have a small open root. Or an overlap?

Thanks! It's an Everlast powermig200 c25 .035 er70s6 they didn't have 030 which I'd rather have for this. The middle one didn't have enough wire speed and was cold. If I go any hotter the ripples start to blend together. This machine also has inductance on it and so that's another curve ball.

I experimented with this last week. Push on left, pull on right in first pic. 16ga mild steel, using 5th streets tips. I don't have a super steady hand which doesn't help with perfect ripples. Done on MM350p, no pulse used.

I wasn’t aware that this was just one style of mig welding since very recently. Learned in the world of off-road motorsports and this is the only kind of mig welding anyone does when it comes to prerunners and other go-fast off-road stuff.

Here’s my contribution.

Still trying to dial in the settings on the new to me Millermatic 35. Seems harder to get set perfect than any mig rig I’ve used before. Can’t get rid of splatter to save my life on this thing.

.125" and .188" CRS.

These are both open corner joints like the "box". THere is a small piece with a lap joint on the .188" as well.

Well, without wading through 50 some pages of information, in the most recent pages I don't see anything but steel stuff. Will this method work with a spool gun on say 1/8" or thinner aluminum? I have a project I'm working on that will require welding such thickness of aluminum, or maybe thinner. I don't currently have a spool gun and I'm trying to decide if I need to get one or if I should just stick with my TIG welder and learn how to TIG weld.

Aluminum gives a more rippled look when welding than mild steel does.
