I made an old water tank into a safe. Left the patina on it, hidden in plain sight.

    12v battery, jumper cables, and a 6013.

The best would be a gun safe that didn't have any thing in it and your guns are well hidden some place else. The thieves time will be spent getting into the safe for nothing.

Or just have 10 of them with random junk in them and use only one for the valuables.

Though you can never really be abs safe, you need a sturdy and layered box construction, a frame fitting bolted door securely fitting the frame.
The safe should be chained/ fastened through the wall or the surrounding structure. Anchoring the safe makes it harder and longer to attack. The gun safe itself could be stolen but to make it harder, rip out the bolts. You can prevent thieves from prying open the door by hitting with an axe by forcing them to attack the safe in an upright position.
Layered structure makes it harder to access the inner metal on the sides, top and edges of the safe. When bolting down the safe, make the holes as closest to the corners as possible, which makes it harder to hook prying tools under the structure. Bolting is one of the most important safety measures.
An intimidating combination lock for lockers or master lock such as the one I use for my gym locker, will also consume time to bolt cut or pry, while raising an alarm.
If bolting is not to your liking, there are other options. You can build an anchor larger than the door such that it can’t be forced through the door until it is unbolted from the haven. Concrete is heavy and such an anchor with a presentable shape and reinforced with rebars, high strength steel sections can add 2,000lbs, making it very difficult to tip over the gun safe.
Pretty much. You could get into Fort Knox with a cutting torch and a jackhammer. The vault doesn't keep you out, it keeps you out long enough for men with guns to show up.
    Hobart cutting/welding torch.

MM252, and nothing else. My first welder. Buy once, cry once.
...but I really would like a nice 50/60A circuit to run it at full strength.

A bunch of ideas, and not enough time and money to bring them to life.
