    1976 Lincoln WeladAnPower Wisconsin Powered

Got an old lincoln weldanpower powered by a wisconsin engine that runs sweet. Just started getting increased power readings. 110 outlets delivering around 200vac and 220 outlet delivering around 400vac. I checked wiring under the hood and could not identify anything out of order. OCV is about 90v. Any ideas what to check?

Engine speed. OCV sounds too high as well. All controlled by engine speed.

    Got a unit code number?

No code now, unit at club house so it will be a day or two before I am there. Throttle control has a "weld" position and that is where I weld, never noticed this before and I sure am glad I never had to use it as back up power to the house. Kinda stuck on this challenge.

Boy that sure looks like the same machine. I downloaded the link and will read it, but after reading your second post are you saying I need to adjust engine speed from full to weld to slower speed for power to outlets? If that is the case I never knew that. Going to read the link now.

Ok, thanks a ton, that sure appears to be same machine. I noticed on page 7 under simultaneous use they recommend no power at weld speed because the power will be approx 20% higher. I am way past 20 and near 100%. So I guess I better recheck to ensure no wires are touching, but from there I am not sure where to look. Appreciate any leads.

Re: 1976 Lincoln WeladAnPower Wisconsin Powered

Correct on the engine speed for WELD and POWER functions. Power speed is ~1950rpm no load (1800 full load) and weld speed is 2200rpm.

If 2200rpm results in a 20% over voltage, it's easy to see that a speed in excess of the proper weld speed would result in output voltages in excess of that 20%.

Definitely need to check engine speeds at both WELD and POWER settings. I recommend using a Kill-A-Watt for setting according to output frequency.

    Power speed should be:
    No load = 65Hz (1950rpm)
    Full load = 60Hz (1800rpm)

    Weld speed should be:
    73Hz (2200rpm)

The control lever is variable and adjusts to engine speeds from idle to wide open. I will try adjusting it down to the initial settings then read with the meter. It seemed to me since it was reading 200 VAC on 110 outlets and 400 on 220 outlets something was broke. I know I have taken power readings before and would have noticed extremely high, so maybe something is still adrift. I should have run the owners manual down, what a dummy :-(

Anyway I wont be that way for awhile, probably near Christmas. Rebuilt the carb, boiled gas tank and she runs real sweet for a mid 70s model. AC only but dad and his neighbor built a couple of trailers and many other toys with the machine, lots of 6011 and 6013. I know it is not worth much but it has been close or in the family since new. Thanks

Think DC only and 50 cycle aux power weld or power not both ,rpm very critical need a tack and voltmeter. A fair welder well worth saving but limited.

It's not an old Lincwelder (DC only with 50Hz auxiliary power) but rather an AC weld only with 60Hz auxiliary Weldanpower. Check the manual link in post #7.
