Welded a piece of plate on my brush hog, where it started to rust out. Ain't the prettiest, really the first time I've used my new HF stick welder for any amount of time. Still need to put a couple more beads down then shoot some paint over it. Next will be tractor repairs. Also got a nice blister from having my hand to close while trying to put pressure on my plate.

AH, yes, you need to buy a few big "C" clamps,, it will save a LOT of skin, and let you make a better looking assembly,,

We should not have to preach to you,, but, back in 1973,
I had a nephew that got wrapped around a un-shielded PTO shaft.
I had to take him to the hospital, enough about that,, cover the shaft, the shield is CHEAP!!,,

The repair looks great,, the weld bead on the back of your hand is mighty short!!,,

Yeah I need a few more clamps. I've seemed to misplace one or two. Tractor wasn't connected to the pto.... and when it is I never get off the tractor without shutting it down.

Keep all the debris off the top of that hog to limit rusting. Get into the habit of cleaning it every time you use it so clippings seeds etc don’t sit and gather moisture to continue the rotting of the metal. Repair looks good.

Yup. I'll take more pics once I've got the rest of it together, and you can guess what it it is then

It's so satisfying... I drew up the design in 3d, checked that it would work virtually, and then sent a DXF off to my cousin for all the 20mm plates to be laser cut. I've been bashing some big pivot bushes out and currently making a pin out of en16, 2.5" x 17" long, really satisfying and simple work.

Kind of annoying that everything I machine atm gets flash rust across it, but it's not important. Just ruins the pics

I use some sort of water based cutting fluid, I think it is Lennox, no rust after machining,,
you could keep some in a hand spray bottle, and spray it on during the last cut, and there would be no rust,,

Even my "chips" do not rust!! LOL!!

I haven't used Lennox. Everything water based I use rusts. Maybe it's because I'm
cheap and mix too much water?

I do normally. Its been like this for a few years. I forgot to take before pictures but every once in a while a dang stick will sneak through there and smack me in the head.lol. After I finish this project up the tractor needs some major love. Overheats, believe its the water pump. I'll replace the pump, thermostat and flush the cooling system. Then the oil pan needs resealed it leaks. Needs a battery. List never ends.

That drill and my 9X16 saw were stored in a shed that had a flooding problem that I did not know about.
They rusted due to repeated mini-floods,, but, they still work..

I mixed the Lennox per instructions, because drill bits, and saw blades were expensive,,
We could drill thousands of 1" holes in 1/2" steel,, between sharpening's.

The Lennox blades (5-8 variable pitch 1" blade) would cut 4 hours a day for months on end,,
typically, replacement was due to an accidental lowering of the blade too fast, rather than wearing out.
At least that is how it seemed, the blade cut great one day, the next day it was 100% dull.
Maybe that is how they wear out?

One of the DUMBEST things I ever did was using a mix of Dawn dish detergent in a squirt bottle for punching holes on my iron worker after seeing the tip on an online tool forum.

I did the same thing on my red HF lathe while working Aluminum Now, the ways and slides match the lathe in color.

Tried my hand at a cast aluminum repair on a caliper for a Bad Boy Buggy. It's the parking brake cable bracket. The cable got hung up and snapped off the side tabs the held the cable end in place. My repair is a bit crude looking but should work quite well.

Picked up a new tool chest to store stuff for the new Bridgeport. You could mount the handle on either side, so that left 2 threaded inserts just sitting there on the opposite side, so I made a little shelf to contain the hold down kit and cutting oil, etc from some leftover 304 scraps. 14 ga for the main piece and the 2 upper extensions where the screws go in. 1/8" x 3/4" bent around as a small lip to keep stuff from rolling off too easy. There was a locating hole next to each screw boss, so I drilled a hole for a short stub of 5/16" rod and plug welded it there. Fun little project. It is so handy to be able to do little things like this!

Nice addition, I love those carts.

I bought the cheap HF magnetic shelves (not sure if they still sell them), removed the magnets and used self drilling/tapping to secure them to the side of tons of things. They work great and have a little lip with holes for screwdriver type tools.

yup it's slightly illegal to make lifting attachments for sale unless they're inspected and certified over here.

Here's the big pin, finished last night. Alloy steel so doesn't flash rust at all.

I need to make a tray like this for working on the scissor lift . I'm always using the control panel to hold screws, and assemble boxes, and fixtures. Stuff falls all the time, this would be handy

Size: 73.8 KBdid all the floor to frame welds and actually welded this frame up, usually someone else does that. And they took mu idea to add the center c channel. The back one is only flat bar. I'd take that out and put 2 more pieces of c channel in.
